Audi DSG Gearbox Service
Diagnosis, repair, and coding for DSG and S-tronic gearboxes on every Audi model: gear shudder, mechatronics, clutch, and an oil change with adaptation — with a written warranty.
Audi DSG gearbox service is a specialized repair and coding service for the dual-clutch transmission fitted in Audi cars.
The gearbox is one of the Audi systems most sensitive to heat and delayed maintenance, and its faults follow a known pattern: shudder on pull-away, delayed gear engagement, or a gear-warning light on the dash.
We work on every gearbox generation: the dry DQ200, the wet DQ250, and the longitudinal DL501 in larger models — diagnosis, repair, and coding.

When do you need Audi gearbox service?
You need gearbox service if you notice shudder on pull-away or during shifts, delayed response shifting from P to D, a clicking sound, or the gear-warning light — these signs mean a fault has started and will worsen quickly if ignored.
- Shudder on pull-away (1st–2nd gear)
- Usually clutch wear or a mechatronic fault
- Delayed shift from P to D
- Low hydraulic pressure in the mechatronic unit
- Gear-warning light / limp mode
- A fault code in the control unit — needs an immediate scan
- Clicking or rough noise
- Bearings or shift fork — the gearbox needs opening
- Gearbox overheating in traffic
- Overdue oil change or a weak transmission cooler
What does gearbox service include?
The service includes a computer scan of the control unit, mechatronic repair or replacement, dual-clutch renewal, a DSG oil and filter change, then adaptation and a road test — based on the gearbox's actual condition.
- Mechatronic unit (hydraulic control unit)
- Inspection, component-level repair, or full replacement
- Dual clutch
- Wear measurement and assembly replacement when needed
- DSG oil and filter
- Full change using genuine-spec G 052 182 oil
- Coding and adaptation
- Code erase and shift-point relearning with VCDS/ODIS
- Final test
- Road test measuring temperature and slip
What's the difference between DSG, S-tronic, and Tiptronic?
DSG and S-tronic are two names for the same dual-clutch technology — the former is Volkswagen Group's term, the latter Audi's; Tiptronic, by contrast, is a conventional torque-converter automatic used in larger, quattro models.
Audi's dual-clutch gearboxes fall into three main families: the 7-speed dry-clutch DQ200 for smaller engines (A3 and 1.4 TFSI), the 6-speed wet-clutch DQ250 paired with 2.0 TFSI engines, and the longitudinal 7-speed DL501 for larger models with quattro like the A6 and Q5.
The distinction matters in practice: the dry clutch suffers more from Riyadh's heat and traffic, while the wet clutch depends on its oil cycle — so service intervals and repair methods differ between the two families.
- DQ200 (7-speed — dry)
- A3 and smaller engines — most affected by heat and traffic
- DQ250 (6-speed — wet)
- Paired with 2.0 TFSI — needs an oil change every 60,000 km
- DL501 / longitudinal S-tronic
- A4, A6, and Q5 with quattro — oil every 60,000 km
- Tiptronic (ZF)
- A8 and Q7 — conventional torque-converter gearbox, different service needs
How do we repair Audi gearboxes?
We start by reading the transmission unit's fault codes with VCDS, then a road test to measure slip and temperature, followed by a written cost report before opening anything — after the repair we re-code the unit and road-test the car before handover.
Code scan
Scan the transmission control unit (Unit 02) with VCDS/ODIS and log the codes and clutch values.
Diagnostic road test
Measure slip and temperature during actual driving to confirm the fault source.
Written report and quote
Lay out the options — oil, mechatronic, or clutch — with clear pricing before any disassembly.
Repair
Carry out the work with genuine or approved parts, with photos of each stage on request.
Coding and adaptation
Relearn the shift points (basic settings) and clear the fault codes.
Handover test
A final road test with you, plus a written 12-month warranty.
What parts are used in gearbox repair?
We use genuine or OEM mechatronic units and clutches from the original suppliers, plus DSG oil to factory spec with its filter — every part is matched to the chassis number before fitting and is covered by the written warranty.
- Mechatronic unit
- Genuine or certified-remanufactured, with warranty
- Dual-clutch assembly
- LUK / Sachs, the original suppliers
- DSG oil
- G 052 182 / G 055 529 spec, depending on the gearbox
- Transmission filter
- Genuine, with sealing rings
Does gearbox repair differ by model?
Yes; the A3 and A4 with the 2.0 engine usually carry the DQ250 or longitudinal S-tronic, the A6 and Q5 carry the mechatronic-sensitive DL501, while the Q7 and A8 typically use the conventional Tiptronic — each model has its own full service page.

How much does Audi DSG gearbox service cost?
A DSG oil and filter change starts at around 900 SAR, mechatronic repair from 4,500 SAR, and clutch renewal from 3,500 SAR — the final figure is confirmed in a written report after inspection and before any work begins.
| Service | Indicative range (SAR) |
|---|---|
| Code scan + road test | 150 – 250 |
| DSG oil + filter + adaptation change | 900 – 1,400 |
| Coding and adaptation only | 300 – 500 |
| Mechatronic repair/replacement | 4,500 – 8,000 |
| Clutch assembly renewal | 3,500 – 6,500 |
Why repair your gearbox with us?
Because we repair DSG gearboxes every day, year after year: we own genuine coding equipment, and we repair the mechatronic unit at component level instead of full replacement whenever possible — saving you thousands of riyals, with a written warranty.
- Component-level repair
- Cheaper alternatives to full replacement when condition allows
- Genuine coding
- VCDS and ODIS with factory settings
- Warranty
- 12 months written, covering parts and labor
Where do we serve you in Riyadh?
Our workshop is on King Abdulaziz Road in Al Olaya, and we receive cars with a disabled gearbox by tow truck from any district in Riyadh — from Khurais in the east to western Riyadh.
- Does gearbox shudder mean the whole unit needs replacing?
- Usually not; most shudder cases are caused by the clutch, the mechatronic unit, or even outdated coding, and all of these are fixed for a fraction of a full gearbox's cost. A computer scan identifies the cause before any decision is made.
- How often should DSG gearbox oil be changed?
- Every 60,000 km for the wet gearboxes (DQ250 and DL501), and with Riyadh's heat and traffic we recommend never exceeding that figure; the dry DQ200 doesn't need periodic oil changes but does need clutch inspection.
- How long does mechatronic repair take?
- Usually one to three working days depending on parts availability, including coding and the final road test.
- Can I keep driving with the gear-warning light on?
- Not recommended; the gearbox enters limp mode for a reason, and continuing to drive can turn a fault costing a few hundred riyals into a repair costing thousands. Call a tow truck if the shudder is severe.
- Do you repair Audi gearboxes only outside warranty?
- We handle both cases; for cars still under warranty we use approved parts and oils with documented invoices that preserve the dealer warranty.
